Observations and Advice Needed

|
Don'tcha hate it when your baby is sound asleep and you're awake for no apparent reason staring at him or her (or in the case of some twins him and her)? That happened to me Saturday night. There's nothing like being awake when you really should be sleeping to irritate a person.

In other news, MacBaby is, as his dad tells him every night during dinner, a good eater. So far we have checked off the food list avocados, bananas, carrots, peas and squash. All are quite popular with the little dude, except for the carrots, which we may not have prepare to be mushy enough. Apples are on the menu for later this week. What other foods are baby appropriate to give him? I looked at the baby food jars at the grocery store for inspiration, but these did not yield any new ideas.

Our final issue - saliva. I think MacBaby is teething. He's drooling so much that his chin is getting irritated and turning red. Any advice on how to prevent this? And, what do I put on it after it gets red?

Thank you, in advance, for sharing your parenting expertise.

I found Eileen Behan's baby food bible a helpful go to for ideas and combos of foods... and also found that every book/resource suggests a different order/plan of attack. rice cereal, oatmeal, sweet potato, pears I recall being good options about that age. Papaya, prunes, zucchini also.

Timmy likes a mixture of things - at that age he wasn't a fan of just carrots or just peas, but mixing the two was delish! He did not like avocados, tofu, or chicken, but would eat any of these when mixed with other things. Macbaby's probably a little young still, but we're to the point that I just puree up whatever we're eating and feed it to him. He hasn't shown any adverse reactions to anything, so we're lucky. But we give him just about anything as long as it's not too spicy. All the books tell you different things, I would go with your gut. The whole wait 3 days recommendation gets tiresome after a while.

We went to the pediatrician last night and she said to go ahead and start with meats too, as long as they're well grinded. Exciting! Today we're going to bake some apples to make applesauce. It's funny because we're like, we should eat pureed peas too! So, his food is influencing our menu!
